“Children’s Rights in Health Care Practice: A Guide for Doctors, Nurses and Other Health Care Professionals in the United Arab Emirates”
“Children’s Rights in Health Care Practice: A Guide for Doctors, Nurses and Other Health Care Professionals in the United Arab Emirates” introduces child rights and its applicability to routine health care practice. The Guide is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Federal Law No (3) of 2016 concerning Child Rights Law (“Wadeema” Law) and other regulations of relevance in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The aim of the Guide is to provide practical information to students of medicine, nursing and other health sciences and to junior professionals studying or working in the UAE. The Guide presents national regulations; and explores specific child rights, such as the right to non-discrimination, the rights to information and participation and the right to play.
Sharjah Child Friendly Office (SCFO) is improving
the lives of children and young people in the emirate and prioritising their unique needs through the lens of a child- rights-based framework to promote children’s well-being. The SCFO collaborates and partners with local and international entities to design and implement targeted strategies aimed at ensuring that the rights of children and youth of all ages and nationalities – including children of special needs – are met, and to promote and sustain the emirate as a child, youth, and family-friendly city.
